CLAUDIA ROJAS
Licensed Refracting Optician & Contact Lens Fitter
Opticians Association of Canada – BC Chapter Director

Over the past two years I’ve had the honor and pleasure to serve and represent Opticians in British Columbia as a Director on the Opticians Association of Canada (OAC) National Board.

I would like to thank our members for giving me this opportunity, their support and trust. My vision for Opticians in BC for the next 2 years is to have supplemental education to empower them through changing times, promote the relevance and leadership of our profession in the Optical industry and to have comprehensive and easily accessible avenues for Opticians to come together and build networks, while having open exchange of knowledge and insight.

Although the Optical industry is a perfect marriage between art and science, our profession is about people. I personally know the challenges that Opticians face such as changing consumer behaviors, particularly the expected growth of online sales, its effects in business models and the ability of optical businesses to attract and retain patients and consumers. Although I’ve had the opportunity to experience different roles throughout my career in this profession, I continue to pride myself in helping people see better. With 20 years of experience working in the optical industry I am committed to promote eye care and eye health awareness. Having worked for national retailers as well as independent optometric clinics, I have developed a profound passion and solid understanding of the optical industry.
